Graflio vs Amazon AI Creative Studio
These tools do different jobs, so decide per asset rather than per tool. Creative Studio is free with an Amazon Ads account and is the right answer for Sponsored Brands, Display, DSP, video and audio, and for lifestyle gallery scenes with no text. Graflio charges credits and earns them only where an image has to argue: researched claims, callouts anchored to the product, dimension diagrams, comparison grids, and a layered file you can edit later. Most sellers should run both.
One of these tools costs nothing and the other charges per image, so the comparison is really one question: what is worth paying for when a free option sits inside the console you already use? Amazon AI Creative Studio is free with an Amazon Ads account and built for advertising. Graflio charges credits and is built for the detail page. For a large share of sellers the correct answer is the free one, and this page tries to say exactly when.
The two products in one paragraph each
Amazon AI Creative Studio launched on 15 October 2024 as a single workspace inside the Amazon Ads console. It brings together an image generator that builds lifestyle scenes from a product, a video generator that turns product images into short ads, an audio generator, and a conversational Creative Agent that researches a brand, proposes concepts and assembles ads. Amazon states the generators carry no additional cost beyond an Ads account, and finished assets land in the creative asset library ready to attach to a campaign.
Graflio starts from an ASIN or listing URL. It reads the live listing, its reviews and the category best sellers, writes a visible brief, then renders a gallery set: your real product photograph composited into scenes, with headlines, feature callouts anchored to coordinates on the product, dimension diagrams and comparison grids. Everything opens in a layer studio and exports as PNG, SVG or PSD at 2,160 px. Accounts start with €10 of credits and no card; research costs 0.1 credit and a finished image one to three, so a six-image set runs €2 to €6. Monthly plans run €49.99 to €499.99.

When free is the right answer
Use Creative Studio and pay us nothing in these cases, all of which are common.
- The asset is an ad. Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display, DSP, a video spot. It is free, it is native to the placement, and paying anyone for a lifestyle background you could have generated in the console is money wasted.
- You are testing scenes. Variations cost nothing, so generating twelve backgrounds to find the one that clicks is rational there and expensive anywhere else.
- Your gallery already works and your ads do not. Fix the weak half. That is not us.
- Budget is zero and the listing is new. Free beats good when there is nothing to spend, and a decent lifestyle shot in slot four is better than an empty slot four.
- You need video or audio. We do not make either, at any price.
Amazon's own figures are about ads, and worth quoting precisely because they are usually rounded into something else: more than 40% higher click-through on mobile Sponsored Brands ads using AI-generated lifestyle images versus standard product images, and +10.3% return on ad spend for Sponsored Brands campaigns using AI images between April and June 2025. On video, Amazon reports brands using its AI creative suite advertised 71% more catalogue products and saw 15% sales growth between January and March 2026. None of those are conversion figures for gallery images, and Amazon has never presented them that way.
Where the free tool stops
Creative Studio produces images rather than infographics. That single sentence explains most of the gap. A gallery slot that earns its place usually carries a claim pinned to the part of the product it describes, a measured diagram for the buyer asking whether it fits, or a grid against the competitor they are also viewing. None of those are photography problems, and Creative Studio does not attempt them.
It also starts from your product data and your prompt. It does not read your one-star reviews to find the objection you have never answered, and it does not read the best sellers around you to find where you are being beaten. And what you download is flat: Amazon does not document a layered project file, so a headline change six weeks later means generating again rather than retyping a text layer.
Our own limits, plainly: Graflio has no compliance checker, so nothing warns you about whiteness, frame fill or resolution. Brand kits are one per account, with no seats and no per-client kits. Image generation is not batched in the interface, though research batches up to 300 ASINs. And generated gallery files are 1,024 px, which clears Amazon's 1,000 px floor for zoom but sits below the recommended 1,600 px, so export from the studio at 2,160 px for anything going live.
Where Graflio wins
- The argument. Claims come from your reviews and competitor listings, traceably.
- Callouts anchored to pixels, dimension diagrams, comparison grids, box contents.
- Layered output: the fourth revision costs a retype, not a regeneration.
- PNG, SVG and PSD at 2,160 px, files you keep.
- One design system across a set, in five languages for the EU marketplaces.
Where Creative Studio wins
- Price. Free is very hard to argue with.
- Video and audio ads, which we do not make at all.
- Assets sit in the Ads console and go straight into a campaign.
- Unlimited variations at no marginal cost, so creative testing is cheap.
- Amazon's own reported ad performance data behind the imagery.
Availability, and the disagreement about it
Access is published per tool, not per account, and Amazon's own pages do not line up. The unBoxed announcement page for AI Creative Studio describes availability for US advertisers, while the image generator is documented across a much wider set of marketplaces including the EU5, and the audio generator is US-only. Third-party guides add a Brand Registry requirement that Amazon's seller page does not state in those words. Open the Ads console for the marketplace you actually sell in and see which generators appear, rather than trusting any article, this one included.
The decision, by asset
Do not choose a tool. Choose per asset, and the answer falls out.
- Ad creative, video, audio: Creative Studio. Free, native, done.
- Gallery slot with a lifestyle scene and no text: Creative Studio, then check the render on materials like leather, fabric and brushed metal before shipping it.
- Gallery slot that has to argue something: Graflio, or any tool that types text onto a layer and keeps it editable.
- Main image: neither. It must be a real photograph on pure white (RGB 255,255,255), product filling roughly 85% of the frame, at least 1,000 px on the longest side for zoom and 1,600 px or more recommended, no text or props. Generated heroes get listings suppressed. The image requirements reference has the full rules.
For most sellers that means both, with the free tool doing more of the work than a paid vendor would like to admit.
Common questions
Is Amazon AI Creative Studio free?
Yes. Amazon states the generators carry no additional cost and does not publish a generation cap. You need an Amazon Ads account, which is free to open, though the tool exists to get you advertising.
Should I pay for a listing-image tool if Creative Studio is free?
Only for the images Creative Studio cannot make. It generates photographic scenes, not infographics, so callouts, dimension diagrams and comparison charts need something else. If your gallery is only ever lifestyle scenes, free is enough.
Can I use Creative Studio images in my product gallery?
For secondary slots, yes: download them and upload them to slots 2 to 7. Not for the main image, which must be a real photograph of the product on pure white, so a generated hero risks suppression.
Which is better for a seller in Germany, France or Spain?
It depends on which generators are live in your marketplace, and Amazon's own pages disagree about that. Check the Ads console directly. Graflio generates in Spanish, English, German, French and Italian regardless of marketplace, which matters if you sell the same ASIN across several EU stores.
Does either tool check Amazon compliance for me?
No. Creative Studio does not claim a compliance check and Graflio does not have one. Whiteness, frame fill, resolution and text placement remain your responsibility whichever tool renders the image.
