Amazon AI Creative Studio Alternative for Listing Images
Use Amazon AI Creative Studio. It is free with an Amazon Ads account and it is the right tool for Sponsored Brands, Display, DSP, video and audio creative. It is not a listing-image tool: it generates images rather than infographics, so no feature callouts, dimension diagrams or comparison tables, no research into your reviews or competitors, and the download is a flat file with no editable layers. Most sellers should run it alongside a gallery-image tool, not instead of one.
Amazon AI Creative Studio is free with an Amazon Ads account, and for what it does it is the best value in this category — nothing else generates lifestyle scenes, video and audio ads at zero marginal cost. It is also an advertising tool, not a listing-image tool. It produces images, not infographics: no feature callouts, no dimension diagrams, no comparison tables, no research into your reviews, and no layered file to edit afterwards. Most sellers should use it and still need something else.
What Creative Studio actually is
Amazon Ads first showed AI image generation in beta at unBoxed in 2023. Creative Studio itself launched on 15 October 2024 as a single workspace inside the Amazon Ads console that pulls the separate generators together: an image generator that builds lifestyle scenes from an ASIN, a video generator that turns product images into short ads, an audio generator, and since 2026 a conversational Creative Agent that researches a product and audience, proposes concepts and storyboards, then assembles the ads.
The controls are deliberately light: pick a product, generate, then adjust style, background, lighting and aspect ratio. Results save to a creative asset library with unlimited storage, so variations are effectively free. Amazon describes the video generator as of August 2026 as multi-scene video with text animations and background music, six versions per run, from one click on a product image.
It costs nothing beyond an Amazon Ads account. Amazon states the generators carry no additional cost and does not publish a cap on how many images you may generate. There is no upsell tier waiting.
What Amazon reports about performance
Three figures come from Amazon itself, and they are worth quoting precisely because most articles round them into something they do not say.
- Sponsored Brands mobile ads using AI-generated lifestyle images saw more than 40% higher click-through rates than ads using standard product images. This is Amazon's original image-generation claim and it is about ads, not detail-page gallery images.
- +10.3% higher return on ad spend for Sponsored Brands campaigns using AI-generated images, measured April to June 2025.
- On video, Amazon reports brands using its AI creative suite advertised 71% more catalog products via video and saw 15% sales growth, measured January to March 2026.
None of these are conversion-rate figures for listing images, and Amazon has never presented them that way. If you generate a lifestyle background and drop it into gallery slot four, the 40% number tells you nothing about what will happen.
Where it is available
Availability is per-tool, not per-account, and this trips up European sellers constantly. As published by Amazon Ads in August 2026: the image generator covers Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, the UK and the US. Sponsored Brands video generation covers Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, the UK and the US. Creative Agent is live in Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK and the US. The audio generator is the US only.
The four things it does not do
Feature callouts. The image generator produces images, not infographics, and Amazon's guidance is not to request text overlays from it. The gallery images that sell a product are usually a photograph with three or four short claims pinned to the specific parts of the product they describe. Creative Studio will give you the photograph and the scene; the pinning is yours to do elsewhere.
Dimension diagrams. Any product where the buyer's real question is "will it fit" needs measured lines against the actual object. A generative model does not know your product's dimensions, and a scene generator has no reason to place a 34 cm rule accurately.
Comparison tables. The us-versus-them grid, and the variation chart across a family, are typographic layouts, not photography. Nothing in Creative Studio builds one.
Listing research. This is the deepest gap. Creative Studio starts from your ASIN's product data and your prompt. It does not read your one-star reviews to find the objection you have never answered, and it does not read the best sellers around you to find where you are being beaten. It renders what you tell it, well. It has no opinion about what the image should argue.
There is a fifth, quieter one: what you download is a flat image. Amazon does not document a layered or editable project file, so changing a headline six weeks later means generating again rather than retyping a text layer.

Where Graflio wins
- Research: the brief comes from your reviews and the category best sellers, not a prompt.
- Callouts anchored to pixels on the product, so a claim points at the thing it describes.
- Dimension diagrams, comparison grids, what's-in-the-box and how-to-use layouts.
- Everything stays layered, so the fourth revision costs a retype, not a regeneration.
- One brand kit and one design system across a set, in several languages.
Where Creative Studio wins
- Price. It is free, and free is a very hard number to argue with.
- Video and audio ads, which Graflio does not make at all.
- Assets land inside the Ads console and go straight into a campaign.
- Amazon's own reported ad performance data behind the lifestyle imagery.
- Unlimited variations at no marginal cost, which makes creative testing cheap.
The rule that decides it
Ask what the asset is for. If it is an ad — Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display, DSP, a video spot — use Creative Studio. It is free, it is native to the placement, and paying for a lifestyle background you could have generated inside the console is money wasted. If it is a detail-page gallery image, Creative Studio gets you the scene and stops one step before the part that sells: the argument, typeset onto the product.
Two rules apply regardless of tool. Your main image must be a real photograph of the product on pure white (RGB 255,255,255), filling roughly 85% of the frame, at least 1,000 px on the longest side for zoom (1,600 px or more recommended), with no text, logos or props. And AI lifestyle output is weakest where material matters — leather, fabric, stone, brushed metal — so check those renders hard before shipping them.
For most sellers the answer is both: Creative Studio for ad creative and free variation testing, a listing-image tool for the gallery and the A+ modules.
Common questions
Is Amazon AI Creative Studio really free?
Yes. Amazon states its generators carry no additional cost, and it does not publish a generation cap. You need an Amazon Ads account, which is free to open, though the tool is built around eventually running ads.
Can I use Creative Studio images on my listing?
For secondary gallery images, yes — many sellers download them and upload them to slots 2 to 7. Not for the main image: Amazon requires a real photograph of the product on a pure white background, so a generated hero risks suppression.
Can Creative Studio add text callouts to an image?
The image generator is not designed for it; Amazon's guidance is that it produces images rather than infographics, and requesting text overlays is not the intended use. The video generator does add text animations. For static callouts on a gallery image you need a separate tool.
Is Creative Studio available in Europe?
Partly, and it depends on the tool. As of August 2026 the image generator covers Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Sweden and the UK; Creative Agent covers a narrower set; audio generation is US-only. Check the tool you need, not the product name.
Does Creative Studio read my reviews or competitors?
No. It works from your product data and your prompt. Deciding what an image should claim, and finding that claim in reviews or in a competitor's listing, is not something it attempts.
