Photoroom Alternative for Amazon Listing Images

The short answer

Photoroom is the strongest phone-first product-photo tool in the category and its Amazon compliance content is accurate, but it starts from a photo you upload and never reads your listing or reviews. Graflio starts from an ASIN, derives what each image should argue, and returns editable layers. If your photography is the weak link, use Photoroom; if the images say nothing, use Graflio.

Photoroom is the best phone-first product-photo tool there is, and that is a different job from building a listing image that argues a selling point. Photoroom takes the photo you already have and makes it clean, compliant and consistent at volume. Graflio starts from your ASIN, reads the listing and its reviews, and decides what the six images should say. If your photos are the problem, Photoroom. If the argument is the problem, us.

What Photoroom is genuinely best at

Photoroom's centre of gravity is the phone. You shoot a product on a table, the background is gone before you have put the phone down, and a batch of forty SKUs comes out of the Batch tool with the same background, the same tone and the same crop. Its published tool set covers Background Remover, AI Backgrounds, AI Shadows, AI Relighting, AI Product Staging and AI Fashion Models, with Ghost Mannequin and Flat Lay exposed through the API.

This is not a small thing to be best at. Most listing sets fail on the source material, not the layout. Photoroom's Amazon page describes a three-step loop — upload, apply a compliance template, batch export — and for the "300 SKUs, inconsistent supplier photography" problem that loop is close to ideal.

We will concede the headline point without hedging: Photoroom has the best mobile experience in this category by a distance. Graflio has no mobile app at all. If you work from a phone in a warehouse, that gap is not a rounding error, it decides the question.

The Amazon cluster, and what it covers

Photoroom has been building Amazon-specific pages since late 2025, and as of August 2026 the cluster includes a seller landing page, an Amazon image compliance guide and a 2026 product-image best-practices post. The compliance content is accurate: it states the pure white background requirement as RGB 255,255,255, and gives Amazon's 500px minimum, 10,000px maximum and the 1,000px threshold that switches zoom on.

What the cluster does not contain is a listing-research step. Nothing on Photoroom's site describes reading an ASIN, a review corpus or a category best-seller set. The compliance templates enforce Amazon's technical rules — white background, framing, dimensions. They do not tell you that four of your last thirty reviews complain the lid leaks, which is the sentence that should be on image three.

One number to treat carefully. Photoroom's Amazon page publishes "+93% lower editing cost", "+56% sell-through rate", "+77% average basket value" and "4x faster time to market". As of August 2026 Photoroom does not publish a methodology, a sample size or a date range for any of the four, so read them as vendor claims rather than as evidence.

Prices, and the ones Photoroom does not publish

Photoroom's consumer plans are Free, Pro, Max, Ultra and Enterprise. The allowances are published: Pro carries 4,250 AI credits and 1,000 exports a month; Max 12,000 credits and 3,000 exports plus the Video Generator; Ultra 20,000 credits and 10,000 exports plus 4K; Enterprise adds adjustable AI shadows, visual QA, SSO and an SLA on custom terms.

The prices are not in the page. Photoroom renders them client-side against your region and billing period, so any figure you read on a third-party comparison site is a guess at your currency. The one price Photoroom states in its own site copy is $9.99 per person per month for Pro inside a Team. There is also a weekly plan sold only through the mobile app and at least one plan sold only on the web, so the tier you see depends on where you subscribe. Check the number in your own checkout before you budget.

The API is priced plainly by comparison: $0.02 per image on Basic (background removal), $0.10 on Plus (AI backgrounds, shadows, relighting, virtual model, flat lay, ghost mannequin), with 1,000 watermarked sandbox calls a month and 10 free production calls. Enterprise API needs an annual commitment and 200,000 images minimum.

Graflio prices per action: €10 of credits free with no card, then €49.99, €199.99 or €499.99 a month for 150, 875 or 2,850 credits — roughly €0.33 down to €0.18 a credit. Research costs 0.1 credit; a finished image one to three. A six-image set is a €2–6 job.

Where each one wins

Where Graflio wins

  • Paste an ASIN and the tool reads the listing, its reviews and the surrounding best sellers before any pixels exist. No Photoroom surface does this.
  • Output opens as layers: headlines are text, callouts are objects. A price change or a legal correction is a retype, not a re-render.
  • Callouts anchor to coordinates on the real pack shot, so the line still points at the actual port after you move the product.
  • The real product photo is composited rather than regenerated, which keeps you clear of Amazon's misleading-imagery line.

Where Photoroom wins

  • The mobile app. Shoot, cut out and export from a phone in the aisle — we have nothing comparable.
  • Raw cleanup quality and speed on background removal, at any volume.
  • A real, documented, per-image API for engineers who want image processing inside their own pipeline.
  • It works for every channel and every use, not only Amazon.
  • Fashion-specific tooling: virtual models, ghost mannequin, flat lay.

Which one to pick

Pick Photoroom if your source photography is the weak link, if you need hundreds of SKUs standardised, if you shoot on a phone, or if you want image processing inside your own code. Also pick it if Amazon is one of five channels — Photoroom does not stop at Amazon and we effectively do.

Pick Graflio if the photos are already fine and the problem is that the images do not say anything, if you want the content decided by the listing rather than by you at midnight, or if you expect to edit the set later in a second language.

Run both and it costs very little: Photoroom's free tier plus Graflio's €10 of card-free credits. Clean the photos in one, build the argument in the other.

Common questions

Is Photoroom good for Amazon listing images?

For the main image, yes — it removes backgrounds cleanly and enforces the pure white and framing rules Amazon requires. For gallery infographics it is a design surface rather than a system: it will not tell you what the image should say, because it never reads your listing or your reviews.

How much does Photoroom cost?

Photoroom publishes plan allowances but renders consumer prices at checkout by region and billing period, so there is no single correct figure. The one price stated in its own site copy is $9.99 per person per month for Pro inside a Team, as of August 2026. The API is public and per-image: $0.02 for background removal, $0.10 for AI editing.

Can Photoroom import an Amazon listing?

No. As of August 2026 Photoroom publishes no ASIN or listing-URL import, and none of its Amazon pages describe reading listing text or reviews. You upload photos and apply templates. Graflio's URL import is the difference between the two products, not a feature gap that will close with a template.

Does Photoroom produce editable layered files?

Photoroom does not advertise layered or PSD export. Exports are finished images. That is fine until a claim has to change, a price moves or you localise the set for amazon.de, at which point the flat file is the thing you regret keeping.

Is Photoroom cheaper than Graflio?

For high volumes of simple cleanup, almost certainly: a seat with thousands of credits beats per-image pricing once you process hundreds of files. For a few fully argued image sets, credits come out lower, because you pay for what you ship. Compare on your real monthly volume.
